The story of Kavos restaurant


A good fishιng day in Kavo Kalogria in 1989 was the reason for starting the Kavos Tavern, in the same village I was born and raised, in Achladi Fthiotida. The spot I chose, a breath of the wave, combines natural beauty with easy access to fresh fish.

Achladi is a picturesque fishing village full of olives and cypresses with an extensive sandy beach east and west of the natural harbor. At the point where the Almiropotamos flows into the sea, a significant wetland is formed on the western sandy beach.

ONLY FRESH AND HOME GROWN PRODUCTS


In our restaurant we serve fresh and only fresh fish, extra virgin olive oil from our own olive groves, vegetables from our own gardens and traditionally baked bread.

On our way to Athens we wanted to stop somewhere by the sea to have a break and drink/eat something quick. On the map we saw that small fisherman village Achladi, and we decided to stop there, since it is only 5 min off the highway. Once we parked by the sea, we saw many locals in the taverns along the shore, and we decided to go for Kavos tavern, since it was one of the busiest, with nice shade (beginning of April, but still a warm day, local kids were swimming). Everything here was great from the beginning, the owner and his son welcomed us and offered fresh salad with homemade olive oil and homemade bread - both delicious! We wanted to have only a small lunch, but when we saw freshly caught fish which you can choose to be served to you...we decided to go for a full lunch! We chose Stira fish and it was one of the best fish we ate! Perfectly prepared, fresh and delicious! Of course, at the end of this amazing meal, we were offered by traditional Greek sweets - and we enjoyed it! This tavern shouldn't be missed! Even if you only have a short time, you should have a meal here - plenty to choose from! Still, our recommendation is to take it Greek way and enjoy it for a nice slow lunch!
